WAEC Sets April 28 As Commencement Date Of Examinations

MONROVIA, April 24(LINA) – The Liberia National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has set Monday, April 28, 2025, as the commencement of the School Candidates’ Examinations in Liberia.

According to a statement from WAEC-Liberia, The exercise will begin with the Liberia Junior High School Certificate Examination (LJHSCE) on Monday and Tuesday, April 28 and 29, 2025.

It said that all eligible junior high institutions across the country are expected to participate in the exam, putting the candidates at 53,562, with 396 centers.

As for the 6th graders, WAEC unveiled the 47,008 candidates from primary schools across the country are expected to sit the Liberia Primary School Certificate Examination (LPSCE) at three 397 centers on Wednesday and Thursday, April 30 and May 1, 2025.  

The Liberia National Assessment Test (LNAT) will be administered to 35,002, third graders across the country on Friday, May 2, 2025, on their various campuses. 

Meanwhile, the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be administered to 53,140 12th graders across the country.

The release added that 12th graders will be spread across the 377 centers across the country from Thursday, May 15, 2025, to Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

At the same time, the head of the National Office of WAEC-Liberia, Dale G. Gbotoe, wants students to practice fairness and transparency during periods of the examinations, warning against any malpractice during the administering of the examinations.

Mr. Gbotoe also called on candidates and school authorities to eschew acts of examination malpractice before, during, and after the conduct of these exams, as WAEC in collaboration with the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice stands prepared to deal with alleged culprits of said act.

He further called on the authorities of the Ministry of Education and other educational stakeholders to assist WAEC in curbing examination fraud during the conduct of the upcoming examinations as well as future examinations.
