MONROVIA, June 5 (LINA) – The head of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha I. Raji has welcomed the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) investigation of funds allotted to the association, which according to him, demonstrates his support to transparency and accountability.

According to an LFA Statement dated May 29, 2025, the Liberia Football Association President Raji along with his legal team appeared on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the LACC Office aimed at proving their innocence of any wrongdoing amid mounting pressure on allegations of corruption.

The statement further revealed that the call by the LACC to investigate the LFA is in the best interest of transparency and accountability but clarified that at no point did the Government of Liberia provide any financial assistance to cover the association’s operational liabilities.

It can be recalled, some soccer pundits and critics in the sports corridors and other political actors especially the Student Unification Party (SUP), alleged that the funds to construct the LFA new Headquarters were provided by the Government of Liberia, and were mismanaged.

However, the LFA maintained in its release that the construction of the institution’s headquarters was fully funded by the FIFA Forward Program.

Meanwhile, the LFA acknowledged the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing funding for the Men’s Senior National Team and Boy’s U-17 National Team during the 2022/2023 fiscal years as referenced by the Anti-Graft Institution of Liberia.

“Funds Provided by the National Government for the National Team are managed in line with established procedures and comprehensive reports on the usage and submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports,” the LFA statement added.

The LFA boss reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to maintaining integrity, transparency and accountability in its operations as a guiding principle to governance and supported all lawful efforts to ensure ethical conduct in sports administration.
