MONROVIA, June 9 (LINA) – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has clarified that the apprehension of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Chairman Janga A. Kowo was based on probable cause, disclosing that he was immediately released upon his arrival at the LNP Headquarters.
A statement issued Monday June 9, 2025, the LNP said its Inspector General (IG) Gregory Coleman has directed the Professional Standards Division to review video evidence and other relevant details of the incident, adding that a thorough inquiry into the use of force will be conducted, and upon completion, the findings will be made public.
“While the LNP maintains that the arrest was based on probable cause, the CDC Chairman, Mr. Kowo was immediately released upon arrival at the LNP headquarters. However, the LNP acknowledges the public concerns regarding the recent apprehension of Mr. Janga Kowo,” the LNP statement quoted IG Coleman as saying.
