MONROVIA, June 5 (LINA) – The Director General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA) Josiah F. Joekai has encouraged graduates of the Gonet Academy to apply the skills obtained from the training for the betterment of Society.
The Gonet Academy is an institution established in 2021 to complement the Government of Liberia’s efforts to equip Liberians from diverse professional disciplines with the requisite skills needed to succeed in the larger society.
Some of the disciplines offered at the institution include Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Speaking, Project Management, Compliance Management, Diploma in Project Management among others.
Delivering the keynote address over the weekend in Monrovia when the institution graduated 700 students, the Director General of the Civil Service Agency encouraged the graduates to be steadfast in contributing to the betterment of the Liberian society and the world at large.
The CSA boss pledged to partner with Gonet Academy to build the capacity of many Liberians, highlighting the provision of capacity building for Liberian citizens as a resounding declaration that the country is preparing its citizens to make a serious impact in its economy.
According to him, Gonet Academy is doing more than just offering certificates but is building the capacity, restoring dignity, and unlocking possibilities for the new generation.
He added that with the Gonet learning management system, it has created capacity building opportunities for Liberians across every county and the diaspora.
“Don’t stop here, don’t just seek jobs, but create them. You have been trained in entrepreneurship, business, communication, logistics and project development. You have the tools to create job opportunities to change your environment, and your country and Liberia will not rely on job seekers but on job creators,” the CSA boss noted.
At the same time, Dr. Joekai assured the public that under the leadership of President Boakai, Liberians are undergoing national renewal, pointing out roads construction, revitalizing agriculture sector, reforming government and restoring public trust in National institutions and focusing on shifting to the most urgent needs, that is creating jobs and stimulating private sectors as priorities of the government.
The CSA Boss informed the graduates that President Boakai has given a responsibility to him and the Minister of Labor to develop a comprehensive national strategy to promote jobs creations in the private sector, which include the formulation of strategies, enforcement of labor laws that reserved specific roles for Liberians requiring concessions and businesses to provide fair hiring, access and reducing over reliance on the public sector.
For his part, The Senior Advisor and head of the first lady office, Dr, Adam Kyne said, Gonet Academy is not just an academy, but an institution that is prepared to equip, empower, and elevate Liberians.
According to him Liberia needs proactive leaders who are always in readiness to address the challenges of the people they govern.
