MONROVIA, May 20 (LINA) – In a significant step towards restoring its regional credibility, Liberia has fully settled its outstanding financial obligations to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament.
Delivering a report to the Liberian Senate on the country’s engagement with the regional legislative body on Thursday May 15, 2025, Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe confirmed that under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Liberia is now current with its monthly contributions.
He noted that the Boakai administration did not only resume regular payments but also cleared the arrears inherited from the previous government.
“This level of commitment strengthens Liberia’s standing in the ECOWAS Parliament and sends a clear message of seriousness and reliability,” Snowe told fellow lawmakers during the session.
He praised the administration’s consistency in honoring regional obligations, stressing that timely financial contributions are vital to maintaining Liberia’s voice and influence within ECOWAS.
The report comes as part of broader efforts by the current government to rebuild regional alliances and reaffirm Liberia’s role as a dependable member of the West African community.
