MONROVIA, May 20 (LINA) – Liberia could unlock new economic potential by adopting Egypt’s successful models in agriculture and tourism, says Henry Fahnbulleh, former Acting Foreign Minister and now Ambassador-designate to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Speaking Monday, May 19, 2025, during his confirmation hearing before the Senate’s Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Capitol in Monrovia Amb. Fahnbulleh emphasized the need to deepen economic diplomacy between Liberia and Egypt.

“While Liberia and Egypt have enjoyed technical cooperation over the years, it is time to move beyond that and emulate Egypt’s effective strategies in agriculture and tourism,” he told senators, adding that, “doing so will significantly improve these sectors in Liberia and stimulate economic growth.”

Amb. Fahnbulleh pledged to strengthen trade and investment ties with Egypt, citing the potential for increased economic activity and stronger people-to-people connections.

He also pointed to ongoing collaboration in the fisheries sector and committed to expanding such cooperation. Additionally, he highlighted Egypt’s continued support in education, particularly through technical and academic scholarships for Liberian students – an area he intends to further enhance.

“As Ambassador, he said, I will work to secure more opportunities for Liberian students and promote trade relations that benefit both nations.”

Amb. Fahnbulleh, who brings years of experience from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promised to serve with dedication and a focus on policies that will drive Liberia’s development agenda forward.

“My goal is to represent Liberia with integrity and vision, and to help shape a stronger, more economically vibrant partnership with Egypt,” he concluded.
