MONROVIA, March 20 (LINA)-The Commissioner/CEO of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr. has reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to supporting JFK through its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

According to a statement from LiMA dated March, 19,2025,  a delegation from the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), led by Commissioner/CEO Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., visited the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital (JFK) in Monrovia on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

The statement added that the visit followed a request from Dr. Linda A. Birch, Chief Executive Officer/General Administrator of JFK, during her courtesy visit to LiMA’s headquarters in Congo Town on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

He commended Dr. Birch and her team for their dedication to healthcare services and requested a comprehensive plan outlining the hospital’s needs to facilitate targeted assistance.

“Our visit today underscores LiMA’s dedication to national development beyond the maritime sector. Healthcare is a crucial pillar of our society, and we will explore avenues to provide meaningful support to JFK,” Commissioner/CEO Lighe Sr. stated.

The statement disclosed that the goal of the visit is geared toward fostering collaboration in addressing critical medical needs at Liberia’s largest referral hospital.

The release disclosed that the LiMA delegation undertook a guided tour of key hospital facilities, including two surgical theaters, the pediatric ward, the optical ward, and the VIP ward.

During the tour, Dr. Birch highlighted pressing challenges, notably the urgent need for a mammogram machine to enhance early breast cancer detection and the renovation of an operating theater to improve surgical services.

“Mammogram machines play a crucial role in breast cancer screening and diagnostics, helping to identify abnormalities before symptoms appear,” Dr. Birch emphasized.

She also underscored the importance of infrastructural upgrades to ensure improved surgical interventions.

The Liberia Maritime Authority continues to expand its social responsibility initiatives, reinforcing its role as a key partner in Liberia’s national development agenda.
